On the 18th June I handed over my ID badge to the powers that be at Yeovil College along side about 50 other members of staff, who had all either volunteered or had been volunteered, to assist with the latest government spending cuts... luckily, I'm a busy boy and I left of my own accord.
Therefore I am now (at long last) a full time free lance animator!
YAY! Unfortunately I don't seem to be doing much animating at the moment, but I am making a lot of websites. Last Monday I was up in London running a workshop for two groups of Urban Pioneers, a educational project run by the fabulous Ruby Wright with Tom Keeley for the Architecture Foundation.
I was commission to build two new sites for their Battersea and Upper Lee Valley programmes that could be updated easily by the young Pioneers themselves to keep an on going record of their work.
The workshop was a great success and to my delight the Pioneers (who were all very cool) have been independently banging out content and uploading pictures to their respective sites already!! It's super exciting to see a content management website that you have designed being used by the people you designed it for - seeing it filling up with content as if by magic without having to type anything else yourself - awesome!!
I also had the pleasure of visiting The Union Street Orchard, another Architecture Foundation project which was a real delight and inspiration to see. If you are in the the SE1 area before 19th September I would well recommend a visit!
