Geek of the week this week goes to me! - 'the social handgrenade'.
I found this very clever little MIX TAPE player,
that runs off URL addresses
...
It looks and operates beautifully and is super quick to customize for use on your own website [including myspace codes]. You can have multiple tracks that shuffle if you want and a skin that make the player look like an ipod. Congratulations to the programmers that made it and offered it to us for FREE.
S... is for SOLID - SOLID STATE RADIO LA
My good buddy
Max from LA is super busy putting out a FRESH new mix every week now, complete with track listings and album art. Soul, jazz, beat/break, reggae, house and broken beat stitched together seamlessly.
Whether you are looking for rare grooves, new music, a party mix tape or just want to feel good, you've got to check him out! It really is easier then ever before. Just get down to www.solidstatela.com and hit the ITUNES button and you've got the FREE podcast.
This weeks MIX features
T Rex, Rare Earth, Alice Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard, Tribe, Lefties Soul Connection, Tangoterje, Herbie Mann, Sergio Mendes and Brasil '77, Astrud Gilberto, New Jersey Kings, Cold Blood and Buddy Rich!
It was put out for Thanks Giving and yours truly did the art.
Do yourself a favour, switch off shuffle on your IPOD and download a SOLID STATE MIX. Turn it up and tell your friends.
p.s. another fantastic site worth visiting in Joe Clay's THE WHITE NOISE REVISITED - A fellow Dorchester lad who spends hours and hours finding, researching and sharing unusual music with anyone who cares to read his excellent BLOG.
Phew - Just finished animating this stunning illustration by Jo Ratcliffe [studio six]. It will be used as the splah page for Fiona Lleahy's brand new website which is currently under construction.
Congratulations to George Wu for completing her first professionally produced short
inspired by Pop Levi's track (A Style Called) Crying Chic.
The BBC Electric Proms and BBC New Talent challenged filmmakers to make original films inspired by new music tracks from 679, Ninja Tune / Counter Records, and Warp Records.
Over 300 directors submitted ideas, with five filmmakers emerging triumphant - Gemma Burditt, Simon Burrill, Alexander Turvey, Joe Tunmer and George Wu. Yay!
George, a good friend of studio six, asked me to do some of the animation for her, so I blagged a box of animation paper from Tony Collingwood, sat her at my animation desk, lent her my electric pencil sharpener and told her to start drawing. George said, "Ta", made me some toast and got on with it.
It's hard to keep a secret when your best kept secret is about to go global, yes after two years in a basement somewhere in Acton Andrea Tran and Tony Collingwood are putting together the final touches for the BBC's brand new 52 part children's cartoon series - the secret show
It's going to be on BBC2 every weekend starting this Saturday 17th September @9.20am, as part of TMI. Should you need more information about the secret show your contact is s.salter@crownstreet.co.uk
Many of our crew have already finished their bits, writers, voice actors, storyboard artists, designers and layout. But not me, no no. I'll be there until the bitter end, checking and fixing 19,000 frames of animation a week whilst tracking hundreds of hidden bunnies, spiders, double agents and secret things... But it's ok, it's my job... and I love it!

p.s. If you are interested to know who else worked on the secret show then why not try clicking the secret link below - but shhhhhhh, if any of UZZ animators get identified then we'll be in big trouble!
Just got back from a 5 day camping trip to beautiful days with my wife Sarah and children Ivy, Elsie and Joseph. It was fantastic. Sarah celebrated her birthday with 10,000 party people and Elsie stood up on her own two feet with out holding on to anything for a record 20 seconds. It rained every night and the sun came out every day. Thanks to Simon Hicks from festival gates for making it possible, to Emma and her crew for doing the best festival food ever and a massive 10-4 Foxtrot Oscar shout out to all of the gate staff! Hope to see you all again next year!

And if you want to see us at our peek... check out Flo's 2003 eight-pint-cider sprint on youtube

The Secret Show vs Illuminated films secret football match ended with a 9 - 1 score line. Christian 'The Cat' Chessell only letting one ball past his claws. Lee Middleton scored 4 goals, Julian Hanshaw slammed a volley home and Phil 'clarkey-boy' Clarke walked a couple in past Ramone the illuminated keeper. Yours truly took one in the nuts and Mr Collingwood himself played two minutes of extra time and then stopped the game because he was 'quite tired'. Everyone had a great night and got nice and toasted in the rocket afterwards. Other injuries included Mark's broken hand after a vicious tackle from one of the short and bald illuminated players and Nick Wade's lump on the head when he walked into a lamp post on the way to work the next day. Many thanks to the Norris for organising the game.

I can't keep up with all this annualality! There is so much of it around, so much to do/so much to miss this summer - including this years' 10th annual World Stinging Nettle Eating Championships 2006 which... Oh bugger, I've missed it, but I did go last year
Apparently and amazingly Jo Carter from the BOOT in Weymouth, has licked the thistle and done it again! World Woman's Stinging Nettle Eating Champion for 2006!!! Unbelievable - pictures here
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I also missed a rare chance to see the electric stallion spinning records at the SUNRISE festival this weekend as part of BOREDBRANDS on going summer tour, if you look carefully on their website all the best festivals are listed in their news section...
On the 10th of June we had our annual family picnic which was very relaxed this year under the shade of a massive horse chestnut tree. The tree will now be our permanent meeting place for the picnics. We listened to the england game on the radio and played a bit of dads vs lads footie ourselves. I know a lot of pictures were taken, so pass them on to me if you were there and I'll post them here

For the second year running the EMERGENCY DJ's were invited back to kick off this summer's season of festivals, by hosting the internationally acclaimed annual Evershot Street Fair.
However, it was BOREDBRAND that should probably take the credit for being the hosts as they were much louder, much more entertaining and much nearer the pub than the dj's were. After all it was john grimshaw that called the raffle and not the egarly anticipated return of 'sliced bread' [pictured above] whose performance last year was so unbelievably funny that I dropped my pint and wet my pants. Read more here
The Street Fair also marks the first anniversary of www.gordonlangley.co.uk um... yay! Well done me!
Meanwhile back in studio SIX - sean and I have been designing other people's very complicated websites...
sean did all the re-branding and conceptulising, I animated the intro and group94 coded the site. It's not quite finished yet, but it did just go live - so I guess if you like that sort of thing, you can see it here
Now, if you followed th link and enjoyed the potato harvest story, then click here and scroll down for more stories by gordon langley.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK...
I overheard two lovely old ladies chatting on the berrys super fast bus up from dorset this morning, one of them said to the other...
"I always used to wear a skirt to work, these days most of the youngsters just wear trousers - I don't know, standards have slipped"
Okay pop fans... Paul Gunson went home the other day and saw a 20ft look-a-like picture of me on a TK MAXX billboard... Ha! ha! He reckons it's the spitting image of me. I say - IT IS ME!!! Check it out for yourself here [I'm the 4th one, the ad updates every few seconds.] Now, if that picture of ME makes you sick and you want to kill ME - then don't... There are large communities of people out there committed to protecting Gordons. I have evidence.

I had this weird dream where you were doing stunts, lying on your stomach on a tray and skating down miles of muddy paths round by the river Frome. Lots of the public and school kids had turned out to see you, and a newspaper. You would go really really fast and it was quite dangerous! I said to you at the end "We must do something soon" and you said "Yeah" but you were going back to build a new wall on your wooden shack for Ivy's room, which was in a field-one of the water meadows. I had no shoes on and my tights were all muddy (I never wear tights) so I went away. What does that mean??!
Bade
Hmmmmm.... Time to make a new stunt video I reckon.
SITE OF THE WEEK...
Now, I don't normally like to advertise - but YOU TUBE is really cool. It's better than television. Just log in and upload your funny videos. It's that simple, they do all the clever streaming stuff for you while you wait - for free! ...and get this, they even give you a tiny line of code to embed the video into your own website! Now how cool is that?

EMAIL OF THE WEEK...
From: Gavin Morris To: Chicken
Boy Subject: Disco Pic
Hiya.
Here is the only disco picture I seem to have on my phone. It's a live
action shot of the Notorious B.I.G Nancy a.k.a DJ Muesli (Organic) cleaning
off a record with her hankie.
A big thanks to everyone who came to the first ever public EMERGENCY
DJ DISCO. Over £150 was taken on the door and the bar was drunk
dry. Lara turned up in roller skates and BIG NANCY stole the show.
Thanks to my very own Sarah Langley for organising the event,
Spike Golding for sending me pictures and wearing a wicked hat. Sliced
Bread for keeping it real, my friends who came all the way down from
Poole, especially Claire Sweeny who drove them all home, to all the teenagers
who came and danced and didn't trash anything...
Thanks to everyone who helped Pete Baccarrach run the bar, thanks to
Sarah Bernsen for decorating the hall...
Thanks to all the kids for making us think being a dj was cool.
Thanks to Not Bothered for bothering to bring himself, his music,
his speakers and his projector... and nothing crashed!
But the biggest shout goes to Big Nancy for saving everyone
from the Emergency
Dj's relentless 70's disco set. All
proceeds went to the Village Hall, where many of our children go to
The Little Acorns Playgroup.
Quote of the week ::
Glen Campell on RADIO 2 talking about his childhood...
"Yes I had a tough childhood - we didn't have any electricity, we had to
watch television by candle light."
Yes! The stallion is back with his first dj gig of 2006 and probably Evershot village
hall's first disco since 1978 [not counting lilly davis' birthday]. Don't tell
me I didn't tell you - you now know the place to be on Saturday January 21st
2006. Hot pants and boob tubes.
After what seems like hours 'The Pan-Dimensional Tree Frog' by Willy Borrell
and the Commodores of Vice has finally been released and you can download
it here for
just 99p.
vs
...and - wait for it - the pan dimensional tree frog has already
been remixed by none other than the electric stallion. The track is called
'FROGGER vs Willy Borrell and the Commodore of Nice' [the electric stallion
pandemic remix] - crikey and blimey.
Listen to Willy Borrell's DANCE FLOOR MONSTER here FIRST!
